Code for GovTech (C4GT) is India’s first dedicated mentoring program that aims to create a community capable of building and contributing to global Digital Public Goods (DPGs). It offers participants the opportunity to work on live open-source projects focused on addressing population-scale governance challenges. The program is supported by Samagra, Digital Public Goods Alliance, and Omidyar Network India. Selected participants receive mentoring, a stipend of 1 Lakh, and potential job opportunities.

Eligibility:

• Open to students and working professionals with coding skills.

Stages and Timelines:

1. Registration:

• Deadline: 12 Jun 23, 11:59 PM IST
• Interested candidates register and provide their basic details to participate in C4GT.

2. Join Discord:

• Participants join the Discord channel to interact with project mentors and receive guidance throughout the program.

3. Project Preference Submission – Preference 1:

• Start Date: 15 May 23, 06:00 PM IST
• End Date: 12 Jun 23, 11:59 PM IST
• Candidates submit at least one proposal for a project of their choice.
• Maximum of 3 proposals can be submitted for three different project preferences.
• Guidelines and sample proposal document are provided for reference.

4. Project Preference Submission – Preference 2 (Optional):

• Start Date: 15 May 23, 06:00 PM IST
• End Date: 12 Jun 23, 11:59 PM IST
• Candidates can increase their chances by submitting a second proposal.
• The chosen project must be different from the submission in Preference 1.

5. Project Preference Submission – Preference 3 (Optional):

• Start Date: 15 May 23, 06:00 PM IST
• End Date: 12 Jun 23, 11:59 PM IST
• Candidates can further increase their chances by submitting a third proposal.
• The chosen project must be different from the submissions in Preferences 1 and 2.

6. Interview:

• Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview to evaluate their suitability for the program.

7. C4GT Program:

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a 2-month mentoring program.
• Coding period: July – August.

Submission Guidelines:

• Candidates review projects listed on the C4GT Github Page and complete the registration form on Unstop.
• Maximum of 3 projects can be applied for in order of preference.
• Each project requires a separate proposal.
• Detailed and comprehensive proposals are recommended, demonstrating understanding of project goals and objectives.

Rewards and Prizes:

• Stipend: Accepted contributors receive a stipend of INR 1 Lakh, paid in two installments.
• Certificate of completion: Successful contributors receive a certificate from C4GT.
• Mentorship and networking opportunities: Contributors work with experienced mentors and connect with developers.
• Access to in-person DPG meet-ups: Invitations to in-person meetups during the program.
• Potential future opportunities: Successful completion may lead to PPI and PPO job opportunities from participating organizations.
